I’m Lori. I blog about hearing loss, specifically cochlear implants.

When I considered the CI surgery in 2013, I couldn’t find a lot of resources or personal stories on how to navigate the most serious surgery of my life. Although a lot has changed since then, and hearing technology is rapidly advancing, I think personal stories, with no strings attached to the industry, can help those considering a CI.

This may also appeal to those interested in the technology and science of artificial hearing.

I earned my MA in Creative Writing at Portland State University. My work has been published in various literary journals, including The Sun and The Portland Review, and I’m a Pushcart Prize nominee. I’m a third-generation Oregonian living and drinking espresso in Boise, Idaho. Get in touch by emailing me at cochlearevangelist@icloud.com, I would love to hear your thoughts on my blog and your CI experience.
